the ruby room vs the radio room

happy new year! ... only 5 days late ... anyways, yes, 2009 is here, and for no particular reason except for my own personal benefit, i will set out once and for all to remember the difference between 2 "new" San Diego venues, The Ruby Room and The Radio Room. i put "new" in quotes because both existed before their current names: The Ruby Room was formerly the San Diego Sports Club, while The Radio Room was formerly the Zombie Lounge. "Radios" and "Rubies" are apparently too close to one another in my memory, but Sports Clubs and Zombies seem pretty different, unless you are in some sort of undead vavi league or something... anyways, that should do it.

oh, and The Ruby Room is where we Modlins will be, next Friday, January 16th 2009, alongside our friends Swim Party, Team Abraham, and Gamma Gamma, in a concert celebration our friend Jason G getting 1 year more experience on this here planet earth. or something. poster coming soon. happy monday! happy new year!

last friday, and beyond

Ah, the warmth of wool-knit Ken Clubs. I forgot to bring my camera, but did not forget to bring cash for $3.50 vodka-tonics. And didn't forget to bring my roommates, who conveniently also brought money for more vodka-tonics, or "maybe not the best idea" as nixo called them. anyways, Silverleaf, you all were most excellent. while i'm quoting people, i'll stick with it, and include the recap of eric saying "man why couldn't i have wrote this song?"

and while i am pretty sure "written" is better grammar, it just doesn't fit the memory right, so there. and with the Heavy Love closing out the night? and you know we love any chance to drop in The Holiday Song (our holiday classic off the HTBH-precursor The Michael EP)! am i right?

anyways, speaking of beyond, Joanie Mendenhall is playing with us and Wendy Darling on the 20th at the Beauty Bar, which should also be super excellent. and we are confirmed for our first show of the New Year, 1/16/09 at the Ruby Room, with Swim Party, Team Abraham, and Gamma Gamma, in celebration of Jason's Birthday! booya!

as if that wasn't enough, we also have a kick off show of sorts at the Casbah that we may have mentioned before. but if not, Sunday March 30th is a Free Casbah show, with Free Food, and Free "Staring at the Sun" Compilation CDs. It's also our last date in town before our ill-fated jaunt eastward. you'll not want to miss it. oh and did i mention that in support of this show we'll be playing the morning show on KUSI.
